Unused recordings from his ‘Surf’ album with Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment surface online
Unreleased material from Chance The Rapper’s ‘Surf’ album with his live band, Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment, has been released on SoundCloud as a celebration of the one-year anniversary of the record’s release. You can listen to it below.
The ten-minute track, entitled ‘The First Time’, is a mix of recordings from the album’s sessions. In the SoundCloud description, Donnie Trumpet said, “This is a collection of unused ‘Surf’ pieces, an ode to the era. Thank you to everyone who’s still listening and growing with the music.”
Chance The Rapper shared the video for ‘No Problem’ feat. 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne on Friday (May 27), the track from his ‘Coloring Book’ mixtape that dropped earlier this month. That came after the Chicago native shared previously-unheard demos of Kanye West songs and discussed a further possible collaboration between the two. He also recently spoke about Frank Ocean’s long-awaited new album, saying that the singer is “making a masterpiece”.
Chance also graced the cover of Complex’s June/July issue, in which he discussed politics, fatherhood and his upcoming third mixtape in a new interview, and debuted new song ‘Blessings’ on The Tonight Show, where he originally confirmed ‘Coloring Book’ would be released.
