Aerosmith won’t be replacing Steven Tyler as lead singer

The band addressed recent rumours in a statement on Twitter

Aerosmith released a statement earlier today (Saturday) to assure fans that they won’t be replacing lead singer Steven Tyler. It comes after rumours to the contrary circulated following guitarist Brad Whitford’s claim earlier this week that the band had “considered” touring with a different singer.

Whitford was talking after he revealed that the band felt “a little bit abandoned” by Tyler, who is currently concentrating on his country-influenced solo work.

The post, which came via the band’s Twitter, said, “There’s absolutely no truth to a story circulating that Aerosmith is looking for a new singer.

“Any rumour out there out there about us looking for another singer is completely untrue. All five of us were just on the phone together talking about how excited we are to go to South America and Mexico City.” You can see the full post below.

Tyler previously opened up about the future of Aerosmith in April, stating that the band could come to an end sometime next year. That came shortly after he invaded CNN’s NYC blizzard coverage with his daughter Mia in January.
