The home of Manic Street Preachers has set up a site specifically aimed at unsigned bands...
EPIC RECORDS is to become the first record company to hunt down unsigned talent on the Internet.
The label, a subsidiary of Sony, has set up a website specifically aimed at unsigned bands, where they can upload demos and find helpful information on everything from legal matters to the current climate in the A&R world.
The website will feature a chat page where musicians can exchange gig and band information, with links to useful sites, and there are hints from A&R people on getting a deal.
The key aspect of the site, however, will be the page where bands can upload their demos.
The site can be found at [url=]www.dealwithepic.com.
Bands currently signed to Epic include Manic Street Preachers, B*Witched and Merz.
A statement issued by the record company, a subsidiary of Sony, said that by deploying their A&R scouts on the worldwide web, they will “change the way conventional talent-spotting has been conducted for the past 50 years”.
