Matt Groening shows his love of alternative rock...

MATT GROENING, creator of ‘THE SIMPSONS’ and ‘FUTURAMA’, will curate the US franchise of ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES at the UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT LOS ANGELES campus, June 2003, according to Internet reports.

The cartoonist will be the first non-musician to curate the festival. A former rock critic, Groening is known to be a fan of avant-garde acts such as Pere Ubu, Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa. ‘The Simpsons’ has featured leftfield guests includingSmashing Pumpkins, Ramones andSonic Youth.

No acts have been announced for next year’s festival, but fan pressure is understood to have resulted in ticketing changes. Following complaints from fans with day and weekend passes who were unable to see popular acts such as Television at this year’s ATP in March due to over-demand, tickets for next year’s festival will be issued for each gig.
