Wu Tang's ODB case delayed again after he tries to harm himself in jail...

WU TANG CLAN’S OL’ DIRTY BASTARD has been placed on suicide watch and had his sentencing for drugs offences postponed after fears the rapper tried to hurt himself on the psychiatric ward where he’s currently being held.

ODB was due to appear at a sentencing hearing yesterday (July 17) in New York, but Kings County Hospital sent a report to the court alleging that he had tried to harm himself earlier that day.

The wayward star was facing four years in jail after being caught with 20 hits of crack cocaine.

However on hearing the hospital report, Judge Joseph A. Grosso granted ODB’s lawyer Peter Frankel’s motion to adjourn the hearing for 24 hours so the incident could be investigated further.

ODB, who was present in court, had a bandaged wrist. He will be placed in protective custody and kept on suicide watch until his new sentencing hearing later today (July 18), www.sonicnet.com reports. The delay is to enable ODB’s lawyers to establish what exactly happened to their client before the case progresses.

The current charges stem from an incident in 1999, when police stopped ODB’s car for alleged traffice offences, but then discovered the hoard of the class A drug crack cocaine.

The case has been put back numerous times since his arrest for a variety of reasons, including establishing a full report into ODB’s mental health.

His wife of 16 years, Icelene Williams, who was also in court, told www.sonicnet.com yesterday: “His mentality is totally different, he’s not himself anymore…He’s scared to go back to jail because people are threatening to kill him there.”

The couple have three young children.
