Equipment and sales plaques may be damaged...

A NEW YORK studio where JAY-Z, John Lennon, JOHN LENNON and many others have recorded has been hit by fire.

MTV news reports that the building that contains Hit Factory Recording Studios near West 54th Street in the city caught fire at around 5:20pm yesterday afternoon (October 9).

Employees at the studio claim that damage from the fire is likely to be limited, but the studio may have been damaged by the water used to douse the flames. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but nobody appears to be injured.

The studio is also thought to be lined with sales plaques for artists including Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder.
