Regional Evening Sessions kick off next month...

STEVE LAMACQ‘s Radio 1 Evening Session show is splitting into four, with three new pairs of presenters broadcasting programmes from Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast.

Lamacq will continue at the helm of the English show while Gill Mills and Vic Galloway will present the first Scottish Evening Session on July 8.

Huw Stephens and Bethan Elfyn will present the Welsh version on July 22 while Colin Murray and Donna Legge will kick off Northern Ireland’s Evening Session from August 5.

The new shows will air every Thursday and Lamacq will continue to broadcast his show nationwide on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lamacq said: “All the new team are really committed music fans and the mix of tastes is very diverse. Hopefully this will add to the Session‘s ability to pick up on good new bands early and put them on the air – no matter where they come from.

“If you look at the presenting team as different movie characters, we’ve gone from myself and Jo Whiley – the Dynamic Duo – to the new set-up which is the Magnificent Seven!” he quipped.
