Heavy rain has been falling on the sell-out crowd at V98’s Chelmsford site since around 2pm today (Sunday). A quick numbers check on the main entrances by nme.com at 3.30pm found that fans coming into the Hylands Park arena far and away outnumbered those opting to leave. Conditions on the site are extremely wet and quite cold but the dreaded English festival mud bath has yet to eventuate. Organisers have pre-empted the bad weather to a limited extent by covering the floor of the auditorium and main footpaths with heavy duty plastic and laid down removable steel roadways. It ain’t quite Glastonbury conditions, folks. Yet! Rain has also hit the Leeds site today.
