RAWKUS RECORDS, the NEW YORK-based hip-hop label that has been termed by some as the contemporary DEF JAM, has announced its sponsorship of the TECHNICS/DMC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2000.
The sponsorship is another feather in the cap for the label, which is enjoying its busiest and most successful year to date. There’s a new album from Talib Kweli & Hitek album set for release on October 16, which contains collaborations with the illustrious Mos Def, De La Soul, Rah Digga and Kool G Rap. Mos Def, on the other hand, is set to release a remix 12″ of his critically lauded ‘Umi Says’ single, with DJ Spinna on re-construction duties. Meanwhile ‘The Big Picture’ by Big L, the label’s most recent release, has just entered the US charts at number 13.
There’s also a free, exclusive Rawkus covermount CD with this months issue of Muzik. Out next Wednesday (September 13), it includes tracks from Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch and Big L amongst others.
