There’ll be tears over the turkey for WESTLIFE who have been hammered by BOB THE BUILDER in the race for the Christmas No 1.
The cartoon character, voiced over by comedy actor Neil Morrissey
held on to the top spot in the UK chart for a second week with Can We Fix It?, selling 42,000 copies more than Westlife’s What Makes A Man.
According to the BBC website, Can We Fix It? songwriter Paul Joyce said he would have been happy simply to reach the Top 20. Joyce, who used to play in 80s band Sense who supported Depeche Mode and Kim Wilde, said: “I have always wanted to have a hit record, and this is fantastic news… to reach No 1 is just amazing. It is like a dream come true.”The single had sold well over half a million copies by last Friday and was still selling 50,000 copies per day, catching up fast on the year’s biggest selling single All Saints Pure Shores.
