Musicians hunting record deals are being given a new Net-based opportunity to get their music under the noses of record label A&R men – and they can do it from their own homes.
A new company, Unsigned Music, registers new bands on the their website and allows them to supply audio files of two of their tracks plus personal details. The service is free, except for use of audio streams for Real Audio downloading of tracks, which costs ten pounds (UK) per song per year.
Wez Carnell of Unsigned Music says the site – which has been operating since March this year – is receiving 200 weekly visitors, with over 30 songs being downloaded each week.
Unsigned bands should supply a version of their logo, a brief introduction and personnel information, a photograph and two tracks to Inclusion Department, Unsigned Music, 3 Mandrake Road, Exeter, Devon EX2 8SQ, United Kingdom.
