Marlon Brando dies after a traffic accident in New York...
SPORTY THIEVZ rapper MARLON BRANDO died after being involved in a car accident in NEW YORK at the weekend.
The 22-year-old, who rapped on the group’s parody of TLC‘s ‘No Scrubs’, called ‘No Pigeons’, was walking out of a deli in the Bronx at 3am on Friday (May 11) when the accident, involving a minivan, happened.
He was taken to Lincoln Health Center in South Bronx, where he was pronounced dead. It is not yet clear whether the van driver will face charges.
The group’s DJ Gehai told US website www.sonicnet.com that Brando, real name Marlon Bryant, had both his legs crushed, which caused his blood pressure to drop, and died shortly after an ambulance arrived at the scene.
Sporty Thievz had been due to host a launch party for their new album, ‘In Stores Now (Fuck Sporty Thievz)’, this weekend.
Gehai described him as the creative force of the group, saying: “[Brando] basically came up with the idea for all the hooks, the concepts for the song. Bran was the comedian of the group. He’d been through a lot of shit, like everybody else, but you’d always see [him] smiling and cracking a joke.” He added that the group – himself, King Kirk and Big Dubez – planned to stay together.
