SHINING LIGHT LEADS ASH HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Ash inform fans at their first Belfast gig for over three years...

ASH played their first gig in BELFAST for three and a half years on Thursday (December 21), winding up their tour with a homecoming gig broadcast on RADIO 1.

The setlist included a festive cover of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and new single Shining Light.

The band?s last gig in the town, when they were still riding on the crest of 1977, was the occasion they chose to unveil Charlotte Hatherley as a fourth

member.

Though it marked a

new stage in Ash?s evolution, subsequent album

?Nu-Clear

Sounds? failed to ignite and the intervening years have proved a

difficult

and patchy time.

As if to reinforce that the venue holds a special place in the band?s heart,

and Thursday?s show carried an

equal weight, being the end of the tour, their homecoming gig, and being

broadcast

live to the nation on

BBC Radio One, but more significantly, it again marked the opening of a new

chapter

in the

Ash story, with their third album lined up for release in the spring.

The gig was divided into two parts, the first going out on air and the second purely for he fans in the Limelight.

The second half of the set included old hits ?Uncle Pat?, ?Angel Interceptor?, ?Oh Yeah

and

?Kung Fu? and triumphant set-closer ?Numbskull?
