The popular UK dance clubs want to have the same impact in America...
In the wake of a growing US dance scene, Gatecrasher are kicking off a 30-date North American trek, starting on August 31 in Miami. The club nights will run through October, hosted by ‘Crasher residents Scott Bond, Ashley Caselle and Robbie Nelson, to give the events the atmosphere of the Sheffield club. Additionally the tour will feature special guests such as US trance DJ Sandra Collins on selected dates.
Cream, who went on a small stateside tour earlier this summer with Slacker, are set to return in September, hitting the West Coast of America. Though DJs are still being booked, a spokesperson for Cream said the dates would feature a well-known DJ. The Liverpool group are also working to give their nights in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas a local feel, by additionally employing hometown DJs.
“We try to use local talent as much as possible so it’s not just a British Club [coming over],” said Murray McKee, Cream Tour Coordinator.
London club Ministry of Sound completed their US venture last month, and are currently in the process of planning dates for the future.
