NME.COM is officially the UK’s most popular music website.

The New Musical Express Internet site, which has been online since June 1996, has been certified by ABC//electronic as the busiest UK-originated music site. ABC confirmed the audited NME.com figures for the month January 1-31, 1998, at 96,936 users and 3,071,247 page impressions.

Brendon Fitzgerald, nme.com editor, says, “Achieving Number One UK music site is a great accolade for all involved as well as an excellent bonus for the newspaper. Success on the web depends on high-quality content, user-friendly navigation and turning casual visitors into regular traffic. NME.com has been constantly honed and upgraded over the last 21 months and our new status proves the site’s quality and popularity. We will continue to let our site evolve, providing the world’s discerning music fans with more of what they obviously want.”
