Ant & Dec to step down as Brit Awards hosts

2016 is their third year hosting the award ceremony

Ant & Dec have confirmed that 2016’s Brit Awards will be their last as hosts. They will make their final appearance as hosts of the award ceremony on Wednesday, February 24.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Dec said, “We had such fun last year that we thought, ‘Oh go on, let’s do it one more time’. But this is it. This is definitely it. This beginning of the year bit for us is so busy with Britain’s Got Talent and Saturday Night Takeaway that it’s too mentally busy for us. So it’s just one more and then we’ll hand it over to someone else.”

They did not specify who might replace them, but Ant speculated, “There’s loads of people out there qualified to do it. I think Grimmy would do a good job,” while Dec said, “Whoever does it though, it’s a really fun job to do. It’s nerve-wracking, it’s a bit overwhelming at times, but it’s a huge amount of fun. And if things go wrong, you just kind of have to go with it. You’ve always got to be ready for that.”
