The stars of BBC Three’s ‘People Just Do Nothing’ covered Stormzy and So Solid Crew on the Radio 1 show
Kurupt FM took over BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge in a performance that drew criticism from some listeners online.
The pirate radio crew stars of BBC Three’s ‘People Just Do Nothing’ covered Stormzy’s ‘Shut Up’ and So Solid Crew’s ‘Oh No’ on the show.
MC Grindah, Beats and Chabuddy G (who introduced himself as “the off-white Bruce Forsyth”) took turns on the mic, while Steves, Fantasy and Decoy played keyboard, recorder and drums respectively.
Host Clara Amfo apologised for some of the language used by the comedy act during their performance.
“Look at them fingers. The places they’ve been, the sights they’ve seen,” said Grindah at one point, referring to keyboardist Fantasy.
The crew received their fair share of criticism on Twitter from listeners, one of which described their performance as “the worst Live Lounge in history”.
Kurupt FM last appeared on Radio 1 in September together with Craig David and Big Narstie. The crew are also confirmed to play Reading and Leeds festival later this year.
‘People Just Do Nothing’ was BBC Three’s first iPlayer-only programme. The BBC Three TV channel will go dark in the next few weeks.
