The rapper posted an open invite on Twitter
a href=”https://www.nme.com/artists/kid-cudi”>Kid Cudi sent out an open invitation to his fans last night, asking them to join the rapper at a screening of the newest Star Wars film in Los Angeles.
In a message posted to his Twitter feed, he asked fans: “Do you love Star Wars?
“Do you love me?
“Would you wanna see Star Wars Force Awakens with me, my treat?”
He went on to request that his fans meet him at the cinema’s address, bringing one of his albums or a piece of official Kid Cudi merchandise, promising to buy the first people to get there on time a ticket to see the movie.
Unsurprisingly, a number of Kid Cudi fans in the vicinity took the rapper up on the offer, turning up at the cinema and posting their experiences to social media.
In September, the ‘Erase Me’ artist and sometime actor revealed that he had auditioned for a role in The Force Awakens. Going by his real name Scott Mescudi – the name he uses for his acting work – he appeared in last year’s Entourage movie and the US TV series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. While he missed out on a role in J.J. Abrams’ record breaking sci-fi blockbuster, he described the experience as “wild”.
Kid Cudi’s latest album, ‘Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven’ was released on December 4.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has become the UK’s highest grossing film of 2015. It has taken £94.06m at the box office in the 16 days since its release, beating Spectre, which took £93.5m.
