Kendrick Lamar releases 7-minute short film ‘God Is Gangsta’

Featuring ‘u’ and ‘For Sale? (Interlude)’ from ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’.

Kendrick Lamar has shared a new 7-minute long film titled ‘God Is Gangsta’, featuring ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ album tracks ‘u’ and ‘For Sale? (Interlude)’.

The first segment of the film, based around ‘u’, was directed by Jack Begert and features Lamar drinking heavily and rapping.

The ‘For Sale?’ part was directed by PANAMÆRA and was filmed at David Lynch’s Paris nightclub Silencio.

‘God Is Gangsta’ is the latest in a number of visuals for ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’, which was released earlier this year.

The Compton MC has also appeared music videos for ‘King Kunta’, ‘For Free? (Interlude)’, ‘Alright’ and ‘i’.

Lamar has been nominated for 11 Grammy awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Rap Performance.

“I want all of them,” he told The New York Times, in reference to the awards, “because it’s not only a statement for myself, but it’s a statement for the culture. They’re all important, because of the foundation the forefathers laid before me. Nas didn’t get a chance to be in that position. Pac. So to be acknowledged and to actually win, it’s for all of them.”
