Watch the trailer for J Cole’s HBO documentary

Due to be broadcast next month

HBO have released a trailer for the J Cole documentary, ‘J Cole: Forest Hills Drive Homecoming’.

The 90-minute special, which is part documentary and part live concert, will be broadcast on HBO on January 9.

It has been directed by previous Cole collaborator Scott Lazer, with executive producers including Cole himself and Ibrahim Hamad, president of Cole’s Dreamville Records.

The documentary features shots of Forest Hills – Cole’s hometown – cut with footage of Cole preparing to go on stage at Crown Coliseum for his homecoming show on the ‘Forest Hills Drive’ tour, which included guests Jay-Z and Drake. Plus Cole speaks about his childhood and rise to fame, and the filmmakers interview the rapper’s family and friends.

All 13 tracks from Cole’s 2014 album ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’ will appear in the documentary too.

Earlier this year (July 17) the rapper was struck by a mobile phone during a live performance at the Bassmnt club in San Diego.

Presumably thrown by a fan, the rapper then proceeded to pocket the phone before continuing with his performance.

Cole also released a canine-starring video for his single ‘Wet Dreamz’, which is about the hip-hop star’s experience of losing his virginity.
