Singer adds she thinks 50 Shades Of Grey is ‘quite tame’
Madonna has said she believes that Kim Kardashian’s fame is “a sign of the times”.
The singer said she liked Kanye West’s wife when she met her, but added that Kardashian’s fame doesn’t derive from being an artist.
Speaking to The Sun, Madonna said: “I’ve never watched Kim’s TV show and I’ve never seen the sex tape she was in. I know Kim and I’ve had a few conversations with her. She’s a very sweet girl. But does it surprise me that she’s famous without being an artist? I think that’s a sign of the times.”
Kardashian’s husband produced several songs on Madonna’s new album Rebel Heart, which is set to be N this weekend, currently outselling nearest rival Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds by 3:1.
Earlier this week, Madonna compared West to herself. She told New York Daily News: “Kanye is the new Madonna. Kanye is the black Madonna. We know and recognize that we have pushing boundaries in common. We’re comrades in the envelope-pushing genre.”
During the interview, Madonna added that she felt EL James’ best-selling novel 50 Shades Of Grey is “quite tame”. Madonna said: “I was a little disappointed in how little went on in ‘the red room of pain’. It was quite tame. It’s just a red bottom, really.”
Rebel Heart features the lyrically explicit song ‘.EX’, which Madonna said is based on her own experiences, but added that she wouldn’t make a sex tape. She said: “I’ve never filmed myself. The ultimate act of intimacy is to be with one person in a room, without any electronics involved.”
