Kylie Minogue tells her mother to stop being her tour assistant

Carol Jones had been singer’s wardrobe assistant since 1989

Kylie Minogue has told her mother to retire from her role as the singer’s personal dresser on tour.

Carol Jones had been Minogue’s assistant on tour since her career began in 1989, but the singer said she wanted her mother to enjoy retirement.

Minogue told The Sun: “Mum would be there with a cup of tea for me at the end of the show, and then she’d be washing out the stinky costumes. I eventually thought ‘Mum, go and watch the show. Still come on tour, just don’t work so hard.’”

Minogue releases new DVD Kiss Me Once: Live on March 23, recorded last November at Glasgow SSE Hydro during her UK tour. It includes two CDs featuring the whole 27-song show.

The singer headlines London’s Hyde Park on June 21 as part of Barclaycard British Summer Time on a bill also featuring Grace Jones and Chic.

Minogue revealed yesterday (March 8) that she rejected the chance to revive her role as car mechanic Charlene in Neighbours during the soap’s 30th anniversary this month.

She told News Au: “I thought about it, but I don’t know that it would have done Charlene any favours. So much time has passed that it wouldn’t feel very genuine to me. It was something to think about, but I don’t think it would have worked in actuality.”

Minogue played Charlene from 1986-88 before launching her singing career with the single ‘I Should Be So Lucky’.
