Nick Cave re-records cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Avalanche’

The original rendition featured on Cave's 1984 debut 'From Her to Eternity'

Nick Cave has shared a re-recording of a Leonard Cohen cover.

Cave originally recorded his take on ‘Avalanche’ for his 1984 debut ‘From Her to Eternity’, but has now recorded of a stripped-back piano cover. The track was recorded for new pirate drama ‘Black Sails’. Listen at Entertainment Weekly.

Cave is set to perform a series of gigs in the UK this April and May as part of a wider European tour. The shows are billed as solo performances but will also feature a backing band comprised of Bad Seeds Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey, Thomas Wydler and Barry Adamson.

Last year, meanwhile, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds re-released all 14 of their studio albums on vinyl. Their most recent LP, ‘Push The Sky Away’, was released in 2013, while Cave was also the focus of last year’s documentary film 20,000 Days On Earth.
