Nas confirms that his new album is finished

The New York rapper is ready to release the follow-up to ‘Life is Good’

Nas has announced that he has finished working on his new album.

The New York rapper released his last album ‘Life is Good’ in 2012.

After several years of teasing a follow-up, Nas hinted that the record was complete by appearing on a song titled ’Nas Album Done’ on DJ Khaled’s recently released new album ‘Major Key’.

The Queens MC has since confirmed that the new record is ready to go, telling Complex: “All we’re doing now is plotting when we’re dropping.”

He declined to reveal the title or elaborate on his release plans.

Nas’s return to music comes after the rapper has been making forays into film.

Most recently, Nas has worked as a producer on The Land, and also curated the music for the film, which features Kanye West, Erykah Badu, French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly, Pusha T, Jeremih, Ezzy, Nosaj Thing and Nas himself.

Written and directed by Stephen Caple Jr, The Land depicts the life of a young skateboarder aspiring to headier heights than “the hood” he inhabits in Cleveland, Ohio.

Speaking at the premiere yesterday (July 31) about his track ‘This Bitter Land’, a collaboration with Erykah Badu that will be the first single off the soundtrack, Nas said: “We were motivated by the film, the story. What the story made us feel, we had to put the music together to fit that.”

Nas has also served as an executive producer on Netflix’s new drama series about the birth of hip-hop in New York City. A trailer for the show was released last week ahead of its August 12 launch.
