Rapper Chief Keef reportedly in police custody following Chicago shooting

Lawyer tells reporters rapper did not fire shots that left one person in intensive care

Rapper Chief Keef is reportedly in police custody following a shooting in Chicago.

According to TMZ, the rapper was involved in a shooting on Wednesday (March 26) which left one person in intensive care, according to local police. The rapper’s lawyer reportedly says Keef, real name Keith Cozart, was not responsible for firing shots, but was present when shots were fired. It is not clear whether he will be charged with any offence.

According to MTV, Northfield Police have a special task force investigating the crime. Chicago’s WGN say the shooting took place near a home being rented by the rapper’s manager. It reports that a six-block stretch of Happ on either side of the house is closed to through traffic.

On Monday, Keef posted a number of pictures including guns and money to his Instagram page, including one with the caption “Another situation. Already.”

In June last year (2013), the teenage rapper, who appears on Kanye West’s new album ‘Yeezus’, was arrested on a trespassing charge moments after leaving court in Chicago, having pleased guilty to a speeding charge. On the same day, he was served with his second paternity suit of the year.
