Ellie Goulding ‘at risk’ of losing her voice after cancelling festival dates

She's cancelled dates in Latvia and Finland this weekend

Ellie Goulding has revealed that she was at risk of permanently losing her voice if she didn’t cancel festival dates this weekend on doctor’s orders.

The singer has been forced to cancel planned festival dates in Finland and Latvia, and has been signed off with exhaustion from her Delirium World Tour.

But she nows says that she was risk of completely burning out her voice after completing 100 shows in a year.

She told the Evening Standard: “I’ve done nearly 100 shows this year and my doctor has said if I do this weekend my voice might not bounce back from it. They did a bunch of tests on me and I have been diagnosed with exhaustion.”

Goulding also spoke about how she continued to battle on despite warnings about her voice – but reached breaking point at Glastonbury Festival.

Missing the crew!

“I’m a hard worker. I don’t cancel anything unless I really need to, but my doctor said, ‘Ellie, your voice is going to burn out’. Glastonbury was the point where I realised I was pretty exhausted”, she said.

Announcing the decision on Twitter, Ellie wrote: “Am sorry that I had to cancel this weekends festivals. Because of ill-health I’ve been advised to not travel or perform. Il bounce back.”
