Mel B ‘championing’ Spice Girls 20th anniversary reunion

90s girl group celebrate 20 years since forming in 2014

Mel B has said there may be a The Spice Girls reunion next year (2014).

In an interview with the Daily Mail Weekend magazine, Scary Spice has called for her former bandmates to reunite to celebrate their 20th anniversary. She also admitted that she never wanted the Spice Girls to split up in 2000.

“The truth is I was always the one that wanted the Spice Girls to continue,” she said. “I didn’t want it to end and I still don’t. Even though I’ve always had my own career going on, I’m always up for a reunion. Always. It’s a shame we’re not doing more as a band.”

She added: “There are no cogs turning right now but put it this way, there are always at least two of us talking about doing something … I think anything is possible.”

However, while her bandmates Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell are said to be up for another reunion, it is unlikely that Victoria Beckham will perform live with the group again.

On whether it would be possible for them to continue as a four piece, Mel B said: “I don’t know. Maybe. It depends on what it is and when it is. With our 20th anniversary approaching in 2014 something is going to happen. Everyone knows I’m always championing a reunion. I truly believe it’ll happen sooner or later.”
