DIIV cancel Reading and Leeds appearances

Frontman Zachary Cole Smith is ill

Diiv have pulled out of their appearances at Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend.

The band were due to perform on Saturday (August 23) at Reading and Sunday at Leeds. In a tweet sent yesterday, Smith said the news “sucks” and said he’s “so fucking sorry” for missing the shows.

Smith, who released debut album ‘Oshiin’ alongside his bandmates in 2012, recently spoke to DIY about his plans for the band’s next album, describing the songs as both “poppy” and “aggressive”. Chatting about the direction the new songs are taking, Smith said: “I wouldn’t say the new record is going to be more aggressive as a whole. Aggression is one thing that I loosely explored on the first record, I feel like on the next record I can push the envelope there. On the next record, I can push the envelope in a bunch of different directions. It’s definitely going to be a darker record based on how my life has been personally, since the last record came out.”
