Singer Ana Matronic suggests band could be on indefinite hiatus
Scissor Sisters hinted at the band taking a break from recording and touring whilst performing in London last night, leading fans to speculate whether the band are now on an indefinite hiatus.
The pop group, who released latest album ‘Magic Hour’ earlier this year, headlined a second night at London’s Roundhouse venue on Wednesday night (Oct 24). Ana Matronic told attendees: “This will be the last time we will play in London for quite some time,” before going on to say that UK fans will always have a special place in Scissor Sisters hearts for being, “The ones who got us first – and always get us best.”
Matronic did deny that the band are splitting entirely, however, telling Gigwise that she is planning to focus her energy on a new comic book and adding, “Don’t you worry – this isn’t the last you’ve heard of us.”
Earlier this year, Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters admitted that each of the groups previous albums released before ‘Magic Hour’ had contained ‘crappy songs’. Speaking to NME Shears said, “I’m very critical of our own stuff, but song for song, this is our best album. On our prior records there are two songs on each of them that I think are pretty crappy. I truly love all of the songs on this record. I’m super-proud of it.”
The remaining leg of Scissor Sisters’ European tour includes shows in Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona and Milan all happening by November 1. No further shows are on the books.
