Jack White teams up with Sydney singer Lanie Lane

The single is the latest release on the Third Man label

Jack White has recorded two tracks with Australian singer Lanie Lane.

The first, ‘Ain’t Hungry’, is described as a “sassy stomp”, while the second, ‘My Man’, has been labelled a lovelorn lament.

On her return from Nashville, Tennessee Lane said of the experience:

It was an honour to be asked by Jack to record with him at Third Man. I was so inspired by the whole process and by how raw and instinctively everything happened. I got so much out of the experience and I’m very proud of the end result.

Lane‘s website describes her as “imbued with the spirit of Muddy Waters and channelling the grit of Billie Holiday” and from the video below you can see why Jack White was taken with her.

The former White Stripe has recently teamed up with artists ranging from folk singer Laura Marling to TV presenter Stephen Colbert.

Lane‘s début album will be released this October on Ivy League Records. You can see and hear the downloadable single ‘What Do I Do’ below.
