The Courteeners at Glastonbury: Liam Fray spreads some Glasto gossip – video

Fray takes time to spread some juicy, albeit unlikely, rumours

The Courteeners frontman Liam Fray spent his interview with NME at this year’s Glastonbury spreading rumours about a secret gig by The Strokes and his own band being asked to replace U2 at the event.

NME found Fray, who played on the Other Stage on Friday, 25 June at Worthy Farm, in a playful mood.

“I’ve heard The Strokes are playing at The Park – is this true?” said Fray, referring to the rumours that the New Yorkers would play a secret slot at the bash. ”Well, if they are I’ll be watching, and if not I’ll just go home,” he added. Although The Strokes didn’t play, frontman Julian Casablancas did perform with his solo band at Glastonbury.

Fray also commented on headliners Gorillaz replacing U2, joking that organisers had “asked us to do it”.
