Kaiser Chiefs can’t wait for Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig

Band looking forward to Manics, Bloc Party, Klaxons and Cribs mega show

Kaiser Chiefs have said they can’t wait to catch-up with the bands at the Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig.

The band along with 2008 Godlike Geniuses Manic Street Preachers, Bloc Party, Klaxons and The Cribs, perform at the O2 Arena in London on February 28.

The big gig will take place just after the 2008 Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony finishes next door at the IndigO2, and for the first time will allow fans to get involved on the awards night.

With the bands on the bill below the Manics acting as a ‘best of’ of the last few Shockwaves NME Awards Tours, Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson admitted the night will feel like a massive reunion.

“I think it’s a really good idea to get the best of the NME tour together for a gig because it was the greatest thing,” he declared. “Our NME tour was fabulous. I still see every person who was on that tour and like them as friends. It will be good to do. I’ve think I’ve seen every NME tour, well, ever.”

Hodgson added though that the biggest challenge of the night would be to enjoy the ceremony before heading off to play for the fans in the O2.

“We’ll have to be on our best behaviour during the awards ceremony,” he admitted. “We find it very difficult to perform when inebriated, me particularly!”
