MUSE SCOOP BEST LIVE ACT

The band are honoured for the hottest shows of the year…

MUSE scooped the BEST LIVE ACT award at tonight’s SHOCKWAVES NME AWARDS 2005 (February 17).

The accolade caps a huge year for the band which saw them headline Glastonbury, T In The Park and the V Festivals as well as play their biggest ever indoor shows in December at London’s Earl’s Court (December 19-20).

Speaking from the stage at the ceremony which is being held at the capital’s Hammersmith Palais, drummer Dominic Howard said: “We’d like to thank music for being the very heart of our existence.”

The band have overcome all manner of obstacles to maintain their reputation as the UK’s hottest live band. Their headlining slot on the Sunday of Glastonbury (June 27), was described as the “best of their lives”, but Muse were forced to play on through the V Festival in August with The Streets’ Morgan Nicholls after bassist Chris Wolstenholme fractured his wrist during August’s Curiosa tour of the US.

The band are currently planning the follow-up to 2003’s ‘Absolution’. Muse are aiming to work again with producer Rich Costey for the new material but will break up their recording time with another trek of the US.
