We've got pure rock 'n' roll, disco darlings and the VERY best in British talent...

JOSH HOMME, Libertines, Jet, SCISSOR SISTERS and Franz Ferdinand have all been confirmed to play at the only awards ceremony that matters – the NME AWARDS 2004.

Opening the show will be New York disco darlings the Scissor Sisters. King of cool Josh Homme will be performing solo and with his side-project the Eagles Of Death Metal.

To mark the British resurgence, two of our finest homegrown talents will be gracing the stage in the shape of Libertines and Franz Ferdinand. Closing the show as only they know how will be white-hot Aussie rockers Jet.

The party of the year takes place in London on February 12 and is presented by Vernon Kay. For all the exclusive backstage action see next week’s issue, out nationwide February 18.

However, if you can’t make it to the ceremony, MTV2’s four-hour coverage will kick off at 8pm on Sunday (February 15) with ‘Gonzo’, featuring Zane Lowe’s vintage interviews with all this year’s nominees.

Then at 9pm it’s the Awards themselves, with the hottest bands in music going head-to-head for the coveted titles of Best Single, Best UK Band and Best Haircut.

Finally between 10pm and midnight it’s a look back at previous year’s highlights.

If that wasn’t enough, Channel 4 will screen their coverage of the Awards on February 18 at 12.40am with Colin Murray’s backstage interviews. The programme will then be repeated the following Saturday (February 21).
