Shockwaves NME Awards 2008: The Killers win Best International Band

Brandon Flowers and co rope in Mike Tyson to pick up the award

The Killers have won the Best International Band award supported by T4 at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2008.

The Las Vegas band could not attend the ceremony due to recording commitments.

However, the band sent in their speech featuring a surprise guest, boxer Mike Tyson, by video.

Shot in a barber shop in their hometown, the clip featured Tyson constantly interrupting Flowers as he tred to give his acceptance speech – and ultimately giving The Killers‘ frontman a black eye.

The other nominees for the Best International Band award were Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, Kings Of Leon and My Chemical Romance.
