The No Doubt frontwoman says she was playing an 'Alice In Wonderland'-style character
Gwen Stefani has said that during her solo career, she felt like she was playing a character.
I did the solo thing, but I felt like I was trying to play a character in a way, this Alice in Wonderland pretend version of myself. But this, being in No Doubt, is really who I am.
She added that being in a band was like being in a ‘suspended childhood’.
She said: “Time kind of stops when you’re in a band. It’s this suspended childhood, and it’s really awesome, that part of it. But then when you have a family of your own, it forces you to go into the adult world a little bit more.”
Stefani has two children with her musician husband, Gavin Rossdale of Bush.
No Doubt‘s last single, ‘Looking Hot’, sold just 680 copies in its first week of release.
The second single to be taken from the band’s comeback album ‘Push And Shove’, reached Number 397 on the charts, almost 1,500 sales short of hitting the Top 200.
The ‘Push And Shove’ album itself peaked at Number 16 in the chart, selling less than 7,000 copies, while comeback single ‘Settle Down’ only reached Number 85.
