The No Doubt star will be appearing alongside the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Aviator'...

GWEN STEFANI will appear alongside actors such as LEONARDO DiCAPRIO in MARTIN SCORSESE’s latest movie ‘THE AVIATOR’.

The No Doubt singer’s film debut, sees her teamed up with an all-star cast to play the role of Jean Riley in the movie about the life of billionaire recluse Howard Hughes.

“I’ve been trying out for movies for years, because it all comes from the same place, all the creative things inside you, and I’ve wanted to do it for a long time,” said Gwen to MTV. “But when you’re touring and writing and busy, you can’t compete with some of these actresses, that’s what they do every day. But that’s one of the reasons we took a year off. I wanted to do a film.

Stefani was chosen for the role, when director Scorsese saw a picture of the vocalist on the cover of Teen Vogue. “Martin Scorsese’s driving in New York City and he sees my Teen Vogue cover on the side of a bus stop shelter,” she said. “And he’s like, ‘Who’s that girl? Let’s get her!”

Though Stefani has few lines in the film, filmed in Montreal in August, and LA in September, she is still delighted. “It was like one line or something,” she said. “But it didn’t matter because it’s, like, all the greatest people.”
