Noah And The Whale’s equipment stolen in Manchester

Band appeal for information and report theft to police

Noah And The Whale are appealing to fans after having all of their equipment stolen while on tour in Manchester.

Frontman Charlie Fink told NME.COM that thieves stole a trailer holding all of their instruments while they slept at Manchester‘s Park Inn hotel on Cheetham Hill Road after performing at the city’s Club Academy last night (September 29).

The trailer was stolen from Manchester‘s Trinity Way NCP car park between 2am (BST) and 11am this morning. Fink added that the band were “devastated” at the loss.

“We just left the van with the trailer outside our hotel, and got up this morning and the trailer was gone. It literally had every single piece of our equipment in it,” he explained.

The singer stated that much of the equipment was unique to the band, and urged fans to look out for it on websites like eBay and Gumtree.

Fink asked anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of the equipment to get in touch via or

He said that the white 1963 Fender Jaguar guitar (pictured) was of particular importance to him as it had been his main instrument for some time.

“I used that guitar for everything. I used that guitar to record the album… that’s my guitar. I feel like a part of my personality has been removed. It defines so much about the stuff we do, the way that stuff sounds. I’ve literally been using that Jag in every show, every song for years,” he said.

Despite the setback, Fink is adamant that Noah And The Whale will fulfill the rest of their tour, which calls at Oxford O2 Academy tomorrow.

“I think it’s good to let people coming to the shows know that this has happened,” he explained. “This morning we were like ‘What do we do now?’ But we’re not gonna stop the tour. We’ve got a show in Oxford tomorrow and we’re gonna do it. We’re just working out a way to do it in terms of instruments. The thing is, just because some guys have been complete arseholes doesn’t mean we should stop the shows.”

When asked if the band were confident they will find enough equipment to play the show, Fink‘s mood lightened and he joked that fans should turn up to the gig with their own instruments: “That would be really cool, everyone turning up with guitars! If anyone wants to give us anything they can, or bring anything along and join in!”

He also stated that although the equipment was insured, he felt the loss was particularly bad luck for Noah And The Whale.

“The thing is, we’ve been doing this tour… it’s been fucking hard, because we’ve been doing it on the cheap, lifting our own gear and carrying everything ourselves. And this just feels so unbelievably unfair. But we’ve just got to get on with it now.”

Police have been alerted about the theft.
