Gallagher says his plans were scuppered by Allen's pregnancy
Gallagher is curating next year’s charity concert series, standing in for the usual organiser, Roger Daltrey of The Who. At a press conference in London yesterday (December 5), Gallagher announced that Kasabian, Primal Scream and Ryan Adams have all signed up to perform.
However, Gallagher was unable to assemble his dream line-up for the shows next March (2013), saying: “I tried to get Metallica, because I know the drummer quite well. We asked Lily Allen to do it, and then she fell pregnant. How dare she!”
Of the bill, Gallagher said that most of the performers are friends of his, but also admitted: “I won’t begin to blag you that I’m a massive fan of Rizzle Kicks or Labrinth, but my 12-year-old daughter is, so she at least will get a night out of it.”
Meanwhile, Gallagher himself will headline the penultimate concert on March 23 – with support from Blur duo Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon. Gallagher even admitted that he hopes to perform with his old rivals, saying: “Will we share the stage together? I hope so. I’m up for it. It’s always good to have a little jam.”
