Noel Gallagher: ‘Me and Liam would never appear on a live bill together’

The Gallaghers' bands both play Fuji Rock festival in Japan this weekend, but on different days

Noel Gallagher has said that he can’t appear on a festival bill on the same day as his brother Liam.

Speaking to The Sun, the High Flying Birds singer said it would provoke rumours of an Oasis reunion.

Asked if they would ever appear on a live bill together, he said: “I don’t think either camp would allow it. What happens if we’re on the same bill? People start asking if we’re reforming, that’s what. Or they’ll ask if we’re going to get on stage together and sing Digsy’s fucking Dinner.”

He added: “I don’t need that and I doubt he does either. I’d rather avoid it all together, thank you.”

Last week, Liam Gallagher mocked his brother on Twitter for agreeing to tour the US with Snow Patrol. He wrote: “Snore patrol Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Smurfs. Who said rock n roll is dead?”

It was also reported that Liam will perform a rendition of Oasis’ classic ‘Wonderwall’ at the Olympics Games’ closing ceremony with Beady Eye. Sources claimed that the chance to sing the track was originally offered to Noel, but the guitarist turned the offer down.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are currently immersed in a hectic summer of festival appearances and are both due to play second headline at next month’s V Festival.
