Noel Gallagher set to keep Matt Cardle off the top of the charts

The guitarist has also achieved 252 per cent more pre-order sales than Beady Eye did

Noel Gallagher‘s debut solo album ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ is set to keep X Factor winner Matt Cardle‘s debut album ‘Letters’ off the top of the UK album charts next week.

According to pre-order sales from, Gallagher is currently 13 per cent ahead of Cardle, giving him a substantial head start when both albums formally go on sale on Monday (October 17).

Paul Firth, head of music buying at Amazon said that though Cardle‘s pre-order sales have been very strong, demand for Gallagher’s album has shot up in recent weeks. He said: “Matt Cardle’s album has been pre-ordering very well, but over the last few weeks we’ve seen a significant increase in demand for Noel’s debut post-Oasis effort”.


Gallagher has also enjoyed significantly better pre-order sales than his brother Liam’s outfit Beady Eye did, with ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ currently set to achieve 252 per cent more pre-orders than Beady Eye‘s ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ did.
