Fans gather to sing Oasis classic in Cardiff
Gallagher played the Welsh capital’s Motorpoint Arena on Sunday night (May 6) in support of his latest album ‘Who Built The Moon?’.
Following the concert, fans gathered outside the city’s St David’s shopping centre, helping a busker belt out the Britpop classic. Watch footage of the moment in question beneath.
During the gig, Gallagher also made reference to Cardiff City winning promotion to the Premier League earlier that day. Wales Online reports that Noel asked the crowd if “something had happened in the city today”, then jokingly adding: “Manchester City being crowned the Premier League champions”.
Noel Gallagher recently indicated that he has enough new material for two albums.
“I’ve got a whole backlog of songs, I write all the time so I’ve got plenty of material,” Gallagher told Lars Ulrich on his It’s Electric show on Beats 1.
“I’m going to make another record with David [Holmes, producer] in this way but the last one took four years so I’ll probably have to make another one alongside it in the more traditional sense.”
As well as revealing that he wants former Britpop rival turned friend and collaborator Damon Albarn to appear on his next album, Noel Gallagher also recently revealed that his new material had a lot in common sonically with The Cure and The Police.
“I don’t have a guitar in my house for the first time since I was 13, so I’ve been writing songs on the bass,” Noel told NME.
“It’s unbelievable. It takes all the emotion out of it and you get more of a groove but I’m loving it so that’s what I’m doing at the moment. So everything I’m writing at the minute sounds like The Police, The Cure or if The Police and The Cure were in a band together.”
Asked about his dream collaboration, Gallagher said: “I have to say, it would be Neil Young and Crazy Horse. If I could write a song and record it with them, it would be fucking unbelievable. I’d like to work with Morrissey as well because he’s a big part of my teenage years. I’d like to write a song with Shaun Ryder as well, that would be great.”
