Noel Gallagher: ‘Liam never gave a shit about Oasis fans’

"Liam wants to do it for his ego"

Noel Gallagher has questioned his brother Liam‘s reasoning for wanting to reform Oasis, claiming that it’s more for his own ego than for the fans.

Earlier this year, bookies recently slashed the odds of the Britpop giants reuniting for a special gig at Slane Castle to coincide with the 25th anniversary of their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’. The band were reportedly offered a lucrative sum to reunite for a massive show at the venue and Irish promoters MCD later confirmed that a deal was tabled for their return.

After pleading with Noel to get the ‘Big O’ back together, Liam said that there was no offer for a Slane gig but said that he was ‘ready to go‘. However, now Noel has questioned his brother’s intentions.

“Liam wants to do it for his ego – he never gave a shit about the fans,” Noel told Mojo. “He wouldn’t have walked off stage 25 times in his career if he gave a shit about the fans.”

Earlier this year, Noel teased that he may in fact have two albums’ worth of new material due for release. Speaking to NME, he suggested that some of his new material sounded like ‘The Police meets The Cure‘. Back in October, he said that his new material would sound like “’70s disco” and “like the beginning of the world”.

Meanwhile, Liam claims that he is working on ‘life-changing’ new music, with his second solo album expected to drop next year.
