MC Ren also criticises 'Straight Outta Compton' biopic for downplaying his role in rap group
The daughter of late NWA member Eazy E has stated her intention to produce a documentary about the rapper following the recent Straight Outta Compton biopic.
Straight Outta Compton, named after the hip-hop group’s classic album of the same name, follows the rise of the outfit, touching upon their brushes with the local police and ultimate success in the music industry. The movie hit cinemas last Friday (August 14).
Despite the film receiving critical acclaim, Easy E’s daughter EB Wright has criticised the picture and claimed it does not accurately portray matters regarding her father’s life.
“A lot of Eazy E’s storyline was missing but that’s OK because I’m producing a documentary that will show everything including his death,” Wright wrote in a tweet.
She continued: “Sit tight and wait for the doc A Ruthless Scandal: No More Lies… Just saying a lot of pivotal moments in Eazy’s life were left out.”
Wright did, however, state that she’s generally happy with the outcome of Straight Outta Compton. “Go see the movie and get educated and then wait on this documentary,” she said.
Wright was four years old when Eazy E passed away.
NWA member MC Ren has also criticised the film for its lack of focus on his contributions.
“True fans know my role in the group as far as lyrics are concerned, don’t let the movie fool you about my contribution to the group,” tweeted Ren.
He later added: “Congrats to the cast and crew. Great job of telling our story.”
