We can lay to rest reports that the star has rejoined Oasis on tour in Europe...
The French version of website Yahoo! carried a review of the band’s gig at Le Dome, Marseilles on Monday night (June 19), claiming that the errant guitarist was standing on the stage beside brother Liam to the “general surprise” of the 3,000 people at the gig.
One fan was so excited at the prospect of an impromptu reconciliation between the warring Gallaghers, they contacted nme.com this morning. But the band’s spokesperson said it was impossible as Noel was back in the UK at the time.
They said rumours of an early return for Noel to the live line-up had begun when a newspaper in Europe printed a photograph with a caption mistakenly identifying Noel.
The band’s spokesperson said: “There have been rumours from other gigs that have been unfounded. There has been a little bit of Chinese whispers after one person sent a message to the Oasis chatroom saying Noel had played one of the gigs, but a newspaper had got the caption wrong.”
He added that there was no suggestion that Noel, who walked out on the group’s European dates three weeks ago, had changed his stance since declaring on Chris Moyles‘ Radio 1 show last week that he would rejoin the group for their date at Dublin Lansdowne Road on July 8, do their British Isles dates, and then look to the future. Their UK dates are: Bolton Reebok Stadium (July 15, 16), Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium (July 29) Carling Weekend Festival, Reading( August 25) Glasgow Green Festival In The City (August 26) Carling Weekend Festival, Leeds (August 28)
