NOEL: BOOZE ‘SHOULDERS’ BLAME

Oasis new album named in drunken moment...

Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher has admitted he was plastered when he christened the band’s new album ‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’.

Until now, no-one knew why the title misquoted the Sir Isaac Newton saying ‘Standing on the shoulders of giants’ which is engraved around the rim of the #2 coin.

But speaking on Channel Four show The Big Breakfast on Friday in a pre-recorded interview filmed in the US earlier that week, Noel said that he’d been drunk at the time and hadn’t realised he’d missed out the ‘s’ on ‘shoulders’.

He said he’d decided on the title as he enjoyed a few bevvies in the pub and had hastily scribbled it down.

“When I woke up in the morning I noticed that it said ‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’. I was a bit drunk the night before, but it sounded better anyway,” he said.

‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’ is to be released on February 28, probably through the band’s own label, though their label Creation have yet to comment on the situation.
