Liam Gallagher has said that the Oasis split is real, denying claims that the band separated to make more money when they eventually get back together.
Despite having a number of public spats and both starting their own projects in Beady Eye and The High Flying Birds respectively, Liam Gallagher tells Q that he and brother Noel aren’t playing games. “Listen, it’ll happen when it happens, but it ain’t a fucking game – it’s the real deal. I read a lot of people going, ‘Oh, it’s just a blag, innit? So they can get some more noughts on their big fucking comeback.’ But I’m still me and he’s gonna be him.” Adding: “I ain’t changing for a million fucking pounds. I might do it for £30million.”
Liam also said that his passion for music and being in Beady Eye will be what eventually kills him. “I won’t die of a drug overdose or a fucking drinking habit. I’ll die of living and breathing and being in a band. It won’t be over snorting a line off someone’s head or drinking a daft drink. It’ll be because I’m into it too much. I’ll die of caring too much.”
Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher was reportedly seen trying to ride a dog in a north London pub over the weekend after drinking champagne and whiskey. The singer was seen by onlookers racking up a £300 bill in The Old White Bear pub in the capital.
Beady Eye release ‘BE’ in June. The band recently revealed the album’s NSFW cover which was shot by Harry Peccinotti, a photographer best known for his erotic work and for shooting the famous Pirelli calendars in 1968 and 1969. His Beady Eye sleeve features a semi-naked woman – the photographer’s wife – lying on her back.
‘BE’ follows the band’s debut LP, ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’, which was released in February 2011. The album peaked at Number Three on the UK albums chart and spawned the Top 40 hit ‘The Roller’. The band have already been lined up festival slots at V Festival and T In The Park this summer.
