Noel Gallagher praises Oasis: “It brings a tear to my eye”

Gallagher makes a tribute to the band on Instagram

Noel Gallagher has taken to Instagram to voice his feelings about Oasis following the announcement that the band will be reissuing their 1997 album ‘Be Here Now’.

Since Oasis split in 2009, relations between the Gallagher brothers have been reliably tense. Earlier this month (July 1) Noel said that Liam “had nothing better to do” when he made his infamous insult that his older brother is a “potato”. In response, Liam posted a second photo of Noel with the caption “Pouting potato”.

Noel Gallagher took to Instagram today, sharing an image of the band with the caption: Lest we forget.. Even now this shit is out of the reach of 99.99% of rock n roll bands working today. Brings a tear to my eye ball as to how fucking good we were. High as motherfuckers and all!!!”

Earlier this month (July 12) Noel has also said that he would have let the remaining members of Oasis carry on with the name when he quit the band in 2009.

The High Flying Birds man claims that if the rest of the band had come to him, he would have let them have the name despite them going on to rename themselves Beady Eye.

Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone, Gallagher also said that fans asking him for photos is the only thing that annoys him about being famous.

“There’s no downside to fame. It is a bit awkward when you’re just walking around a department store trying to buy underwear and there’s people following you with camera phones and shit like that. But the downside to fame, I’ve yet to experience one. It’s great.”

But he added: “I’m sick of fans asking for selfies, but I just tell them to go and fuck themselves. I’m not beholden to anyone with a camera phone and I don’t give a fuck if they think I’m an arsehole.” Oasis are set to reissue their third album, ‘Be Here Now’, along with unreleased tracks and other bonus features on October 7 via Big Brother Recordings.
