Liam Gallagher rules out possibility of solo album

"Are you tripping, dickhead?" former Oasis member asks

Liam Gallagher has appeared to rule out the possibility of pursuing a solo career.

Gallagher has been without a band since Beady Eye split in 2014 and his brother, Noel, has repeatedly spoken about his belief that his younger sibling should follow his post-Oasis career and go solo.

However, Liam posted what appeared to be an unprovoked refusal of the idea on Twitter in the early hours of the morning (January 4), asking “Are you tripping, dickhead?” and saying he would not release solo material as he is “not a cunt.”

The tweet was one of three difficult to decipher messages tweeted by Gallagher in the past 24 hours. The first (“Blah blah fucking blah”) was possibly in relation to tabloid reports about a row between him and girlfriend Debbie Gwyther published yesterday. However, a second (“Excuse me sir has your dog been at your passport why you jealous fatty”) left fans baffled.

Late last year a spokesperson for Liam Gallagher denied the latest round of tabloid reports suggesting that Oasis will reform in 2016.

The Daily Star reported that Liam and brother Noel were in “serious talks” to reform for a series of arena gigs alongside former bandmates Andy Bell and Gem Archer.

“Other bands have reunited and had a fantastic pay day so it makes sense for everyone involved,” a source told the paper. “It has been discussed seriously – it’s only a matter of time. It is looking so certain it is worth betting on for next year.”

However, approached for comment by NME a spokesperson for Liam Gallagher said that the rumours were “totally unfounded”.

Prior to the reports, Noel Gallagher hinted at there still being tension between him and his brother. Gallagher exchanged words with a heckler at a gig in Cork. “Where’s Liam?”, shouted the fan, to which Noel replied, “For the benefit of everybody, there’s some comedian here that’s just said, ‘Where’s Liam?’ Is he a local comedian?”

He continued: “Liam’s at home looking at himself in the mirror.”

Gallagher then turned his sights onto the heckler himself, adding: “Fortunately, he’s still not as big of a cunt as you are. Imagine that, being a bigger cunt than our kid. Imagine that.”
