Noel Gallagher: ‘Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ was free marketing’

Oasis legend still praises Thom Yorke and co

OasisNoel Gallagher has said that he thinks that Radiohead‘s ‘pay-what-you-like’ method of releasing recent album ‘In Rainbows’ was a “free marketing” ploy.

He told BBC 6music that his own band would not be following in the footsteps of Thom Yorke and co by letting fans choose how much to pay for their forthcoming new album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’.

“That’s not our bag,” he said. “I didn’t spend a year in the most expensive studio in England, with the most expensive producer in America, and the most expensive graphic designer in London to then give it away. Fuck that.”

Speaking about Radiohead‘s ‘In Rainbows’ release, Gallagher said, “To be honest, to me it looked like marketing – a great way of getting a load of marketing for free really. But good for them. That’s what they do, they’re rebels and outsiders.”

‘Dig Out Your Soul’ is released on October 6.
